Crochet Skill Level Definitions:

Novice:
You do not know how to crochet at all!

Beginner:
You know the 5 basic stitches: Chain, single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, triple crochet. You are proficient at these skills.

Intermediate:
Also known as "Advanced Beginner", granny squares, basic lace patterns, simple shaping and seaming.

Advanced:
You are experienced in pattern reading, projects with intricate stitch patterns, techniques and dimension,such as non-repeating patterns, multi-color techniques, fine threads, small hooks, detailed shaping and refined finishing, you know who you are!

Knitting Skill Level Definitions:

Novice:
You do not know how to knit at all!

Beginner:
You know the 4 basic skills: knit, purl, cast on & cast off. You are proficient at these skills.

Intermediate:
Also known as "Advanced Beginner", you are very comfortable with patterns that include ribbing, increase & decrease, knitting in the round, color change, basic pattern reading, basic seaming, etc...

Advanced:
You are experienced in pattern reading, different increases and decreases, knitting in the round, lace patterns, shaping, seaming, fixing mistakes, color work- you know who you are!
